Various machines are ment to sew different materials. For example with my new machines I wouldn`t dare to sew leather. The plastic bobbins and plastic parts in the machine wouldn`t last...
Here are my current machines, all in great use and well taken care of:
Singer 201K "Agatha"
Agatha was made in Great Britain in 1936. See Agatha´s introduction here.
Singer 221K Featherweight "Fiona"
Fiona was manufactured in Great Britain in 1955. See Fiona´s introduction here.
Janome CoverPro 1000CPX "Cornelia"
Cornelia is a much needed coverlocker. See Cornelia´s introduction here.
Singer 27K "Dora"
Dora was manufactured in Great Britain in 1910. Dora is my first antique treadle sewing machine. See Dora´s introduction here.
Singer 411G "Gerda"
Gerda has been made in Germany around 1964. She is my first vintage sewing machine. See Gerda´s introduction here.
Bernina 800DL overlocker "Bebe"
My first ever overlocker and I love it! How did I cope without it before? Well, it took me two days to sew a jersey long-sleeve top without it. Now it`s sewn within hours. So yes, it was a good investment and not to mention all the seam allowances I can now finish with it. I will be buying some extra presser feet for it, such as gathering foot, elasticator, cording foot etc.
Singer Herritage 8768 "Henrietta"
First machine I bought myself. I just had to have it because it`s black and it has gorgeous vintage design. This might seem silly to buy a machine based on its looks rather than its features but anyone who knows me wouldn`t be surprised. ;) It`s a good machine, I´m happy with it. It´s first electronical machine I´ve used and I like just pushing buttons and stitch-pattern is ready to go.
Pfaff Select 1530 "Patsy"
This machine was given to me some years ago. The previous owner had troubles adjusting bobbin tension manualy. That isn´t a problem here. :) This is a great machine, it sews large quilts, thick winter coat fabrics, fake fur, thick home dec fabrics as well as chiffon, satin and stretchy fabrics.
